Why Twitter changed to X
What is Twitter?
Twitter (now X) was
an American social media company based in San Francisco California. Here the
users broadcasted their tweets obtaining text, photos, and even videos. Once a
tweet is sent, the followers of that respective user can view these tweets on their
homepage.
On Twitter, once you
make an account you can choose who you want to follow depending on your
interests such as famous teams, celebrities, reporters friends, etc.
All you need is
either a computer or a mobile phone along with an internet connection to get
you connected to Twitter.
SUGGESTED Miracles Of Technology
In March 2006 Jack
Dorsey, Noah Glass, Biz Stone, and Evan Williams created Twitter. They created
Twitter on the idea of a Micro-Blogging service which means it is a
combination of blogging and instant messaging. Registered users post, share,
like, and reply to tweets with short messages. Now tweets can be delivered to
followers in Real Time meaning the information is shared quickly like an
Instant Messenger.
Why did Twitter change to X?
The internet is
definitely getting all worked up with this Twitter turning to X, but we all
know what this is! Just a rebranding. So what happened is that Twitter was acquired
by X Corp (hence the X sign). Elon Musk who bought Twitter, seeks to reinvent
Twitter by upgrading Twitter from 140-character messages to more characters
plus allowing hours of video playback and they say they will allow
comprehensive communication soon. Musk bought Twitter for $44 Billion to turn
Twitter into a super app like China’s WeChat app.
WHY THE LETTER X?
They say Elon Musk
has a long-standing fixation on the letter X, just like the previous X.com
which now has changed to PayPal after its merger. Musk says he will be using
Twitter as an accelerant in finally implementing X.com. He changed Twitter's
legal name to X-Corp in April
What does this mean for Twitter now?
Well, we need to put
this simply, it has just been a Rebrand with a name change and no new features
or updates have been added. The usual hype first and delivery later, which is
Musk's apparent Product Strategy.
What is Twitter/X Future?
Well, to be honest, I
would love the idea of an everything app but as far as my research goes an
everything app would require tons of investment in short-term time. “Why?” you
ask – In order to build these capabilities this would require workforce and infrastructure
to begin with Plus Twitter or X is under a lawsuit of unpaid bills and it has
terminated 70% of its staff… So this looks like a long shot for now since
Twitter as an app does not have the infrastructure to become an everything app!
Conclusion:
I do see a bright
future for X (Twitter) because Elon Musk has a history of delivering like we
have seen with the SpaceX Starship program, Tesla, and the electric cars, and lastly
his plan with the Hyperloop Train system. He is a man with a vision supported
by his wealth and only he has the capability of driving this app to become an
everything app.
Though this prospect
does seem bright, the present situation says otherwise Twitter had to lay
off around 70% employees and it had unpaid bills that resulted in lawsuits, so
gathering investments for such an app would require some really out-of-the-world
marketing and miracle since raising around $40 Billion is no childs play even
for billionaires like Musk.
What do you think the future holds for X.com (Twitter)? Do you sense a change and birth of something new that would challenge the likes of Meta (Facebook, Instagram WhatsApp, etc.)? I believe so. So comment with us your thoughts.
